Paige Minear of The Pink Clutch blog sent me the Best of Beauty Counter Set and the Flawless in Five Make Up Set a couple of weeks ago just so I could try them out and review them. (She’s a huge advocate of the brand and knows all the ins and outs!) Before that, I had never tried anything made by Beauty Counter and honestly didn’t really understand what all the hype was about.

In case you don’t know, make-up products are not regulated by the FDA in the United States. That means companies can put whatever the heck they want in your products! Beauty Counter’s mission is to deliver luxury, high-end skincare + make-up products that are free of any harmful ingredients. To be completely transparent, I know I will always continue to use certain products that aren’t necessarily “good for me.” I’m not the girl who is going to preach about natural products to you day and night because it’s truly not something I know enough about!

With that said, I’m here today to tell you specifically about the Beauty Counter products I’m LOVING and the ones I don’t really care for. This review is coming strictly from the standpoint of whether or not I love the products compared to other brands I use (Urban Decay, Stila, Aveeno, Wayne Powers, etc.!) The bonus for me here is knowing that I can feel good about using the Beauty Counter products I love, but continue to use other brands I can’t give up! Keep scrolling for my review of each product + the official product descriptions from beautycounter.com.

An Honest Review of Beauty Counter

1. The Best of Beauty Counter Set

Cleansing Balm: I was soooo skeptical of this product. Why would I want to smear a balm all over my face full of make-up to cleanse instead of just using face wash?! It truly does feel like a luxury product and gently removes every speck of dirt and oil on my face! You can also use it as an overnight mask which I have really enjoyed. So moisturizing for winter skin!

“This multi-tasker is a skin care trifecta: daily cleanser, makeup-removing balm and overnight mask. Formulated with nutrient-rich raspberry and cranberry seed oils and vitamin C.

Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion: Not going to lie, I am in a committed relationship with my Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF. I wear it underneath my make-up every single day! I really like this Beauty Counter moisturizer, I just can’t bring myself to wear it everyday because it doesn’t have SPF, which is important to me for anti-aging. However, this is a super great option if you work in an office all day/don’t care about SPF/really care about no harmful ingredients in your products.

“This lightweight moisturizer adjusts to skin’s needs throughout the day.

No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil: Y’allll I love facial oils now! I give this one an A+ review. Tbh, it sounds so gross to put oils on your face, but trust me that this product works. It’s so moisturizing and brightening – I’ve been putting it on immediately after cleansing my face at night, before I put on my Wayne Powers Bright C Moisturizer. I can already tell that it has been rejuvenating my skin as the air outside gets colder and drier!

“An Allure “Best of Beauty” Award Winner, this lightweight citrus-scented facial oil with vitamin C quickly absorbs and penetrates to awaken and replenish skin.

No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask: I’m probably the only girl on the planet that has never tried a charcoal mask…until now! This is my number one favorite product from the Best of Beauty Counter set. It literally erased all of my blackheads! I’ve been using it 2-3 times per week right after I get out of the shower.

“This nutrient-rich kaolin clay mask helps to purify and balance the skin, absorbing excess oil and drawing out impurities for a smoother-looking complexion.

2. Flawless in Five Make Up Set

Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation: This is a pretty great dupe for my usual Stila Stay-All-Day Beauty Balm that I wear daily! It’s very lightweight (definitely not full coverage) and makes your skin look smooth, but natural. Perfect for the office or everyday wear. I got it in “Linen.”

“Our game-changing Tint Skin is a lightweight, creamy foundation that cares for your skin. Its easy-to-blend formula contains sodium hyaluronate, a natural moisture magnet, to promote even skin tone and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.”

Touchup Skin Concealer Pen: Not super crazy about the clickable brush-pen that you dispense this concealer out of, but I can definitely get behind the product! It works just as well as my trusty Maybelline Master Conceal. I got it in “Fair.”

“Formulated with knotgrass extract, this long-lasting concealer helps reduce the appearance of fine lines as it hides dark circles, redness, and blemishes. Its click-pen and brush applicator make it easy to apply just the right amount, even on the go.”

Color Define Brow Pencil: I got this pencil in “medium” and I still don’t feel like it’s quite dark enough?? Y’all know I have naturally blonde hair, but my eyebrows are definitely a medium shade, hence why I ordered this color. To my defense, it matches my natural brow color almost exactly! So it’s perfect for everyday grocery store runs/the office. I just like my brows to be a little more pigmented on the reg.

“Our pencils were developed to define brows and make them appear naturally thicker and polished. Fill in gaps or sparse areas, then blend using the built-in spooley wand and brush color for a seamless finish.”

Lengthening or Volumizing Mascara: Straight-up this mascara is actually terrible. I give it a D- on the review scale. I got the “lengthening” version to test it out, and the product is soooo light (in color and weight) that it barely does anything to help my almost-clear lashes. I’ve started using it as a follow-up to my trusty It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara just to separate my lashes and give them an extra length-boost.

“Add alluring length and definition without the harmful ingredients. Smudge and flake-proof, this all-new formula stays put all day, plus it’s easier than ever to remove. The unique precision brush perfectly separates, defines, and coats each lash.”

Satin Powder Blush: I got this in “melon” and the color looked so great on the screen! It’s wayyy too orange-y for wintertime though (would be perfect for summer!) In review, I wish I would have gotten the “passionfruit” color. Great product, just the wrong shade!

“Create perfectly flushed cheeks with a natural-looking shade or a pop of color. Satin Powder Blush features shades that flatter all skin tones, in a matte finish, or with a subtle sheen.”

Lip Gloss: I was expecting this product to have a touch more pigment to it (it’s almost sheer), but I still really like wearing it over other lip products like my Stila Stay-All-Day Liquid Lipstick. I got it in “peony.”

“Made with carnauba wax, jojoba oil, and vitamin C, each infinitely wearable color conditions lips and promotes lasting hydration and shine for a perfectly polished finish.”
