48 Hours in St. Augustine

We spent 48 hours in St. Augustine earlier this month for the wedding of one of Rudd’s fraternity brothers, and it was such a fun getaway! Neither of us had ever been, and I’m so glad we changed that – the “nation’s oldest city” is absolutely beautiful! We had wedding events to attend both days we were there, but we still managed to squeeze in some fun things, just for us!

We drove straight into the historic city, and were instantly charmed. One thing we were not prepared for was the fact that there is absolutely zero parking, other than a large parking garage that you can walk from – something to note if you have also never been! After we figured that out, we had a lovely lunch at River & Fort which overlooks, you guessed it, the Castillo de San Marcos fort and the Matanzas River. It was the perfect way to relax after a long road trip! The rooftop bar is a must!

Next, we walked around the old city and historic George Street, which was quite crowded, but fun! By then, it was check-in time, so we headed back to the car.

We knew we wanted to spend some time at the beach while we were there, so we booked this Airbnb that was just over the bridge from the old city, closer to the coastline. It ended up being perfect! As soon as we checked in, I changed into shorts and we took the beach cruiser bicycles that came with the Airbnb to explore the Lighthouse Park area. So much fun, I didn’t get any pictures!

After getting ready for dinner, we enjoyed a meal at St. Augustine Fish Camp – definitely make a reservation! We were overdressed because we were headed to one of the wedding events afterwards, but it was the perfect dinner spot on the river. Shop our outfits here!

The next morning, we woke up on the early side to head to the beach! Being able to drive and park on the beach was a novelty to us (I wish NC/SC beaches would get on board!) I loved taking my new hat and this linen shorts set for a spin!

After a fun beach morning, we did as one does and grabbed a couple of Pub Subs from Publix and headed back to the Airbnb to get ready for the wedding!

And now, a little *drama* for this dress?! Dare I say it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever worn? It was so much fun to wear, and I definitely made some friends at the wedding over the conversations that it started 😆 I already can’t wait to wear it again!! It ran a little bit small for me, this is the size medium.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful, and it was so special to celebrate friends in such a stunning place!

Until next time St. Augustine!
