2018 Summer Reading List

Remember summer reading lists in elementary/middle school/high school? I was the kind of child that lovvved getting my summer reading books every year, and I’d like to say that I still am. If you haven’t heard of Reese Witherspoon’s “Hello Sunshine” book club, you are missing out! I kind of dropped the ball on our little book club here when things got crazy at the end of last semester, but I’m ready to amp up my reading list again! Some of these picks came from Reese’s book club, but some of them are just ones that I’ve personally been dying to read.
I don’t know about you, but I just can’t go to the beach or the pool without a book. We’re going to Destin later in June and I absolutely cannot WAIT for all of the reading I’ll be able to do (sounds so lame lol.) Hope you find something in this list that you’ll enjoy reading, too!!

MY 2018 SUMMER READING LIST

1. Visible Empire
“An epic novel—based on true events—of love, grief, race, and wealth, charting a single sweltering summer in Atlanta that left no one unchanged”

2. Severance
“Maybe it’s the end of the world, but not for Candace Chen, a millennial, first-generation American and office drone meandering her way into adulthood in Ling Ma’s offbeat, wryly funny, apocalyptic satire, Severance.”

3. French Exit
“From bestselling author Patrick deWitt, a brilliant and darkly comic novel about a wealthy widow and her adult son who flee New York for Paris in the wake of scandal and financial disintegration.”

4. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
“Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, too!” —Reese Witherspoon

5. The Light We Lost
This love story between Lucy & Gabe spans decades and continents as two star-crossed lovers try to return to each other…Will they ever meet again? This book kept me up at night, turning the pages to find out, and the ending did not disappoint.”–Reese Witherspoon

6. Little Fires Everywhere
“To say I love this book is an understatement. It’s a deep psychological mystery about the power of motherhood, the intensity of teenage love, and the danger of perfection. It moved me to tears.” – Reese Witherspoon
