Happy Monday and happy GAMEDAY! If you live under a rock, I am here to inform you that our Clemson Tigers are playing in the College Football National Championship game TONIGHT and I cannot wait!!
But – that’s not the information you came to this post for! I realized that over the past few months, I have basically overhauled my nighttime skincare routine by introducing one new product at a time. All of a sudden, I’m using entirely different products than I was this time last year, and feel like my skin looks better than ever before.
Of course, all of that means it’s high time that I update YOU on what I’ve been using and what I’ve been doing differently. I’m not going to lie, sometimes the task of taking my make up off/washing my face/applying products at night just seems so daunting when all I want to do is crawl into bed! But if you make a commitment to a skincare routine, I promise you’ll see a noticeable difference. Maybe a good resolution for 2020?
Below is my nightly skincare routine, in the exact order that I apply my products! Whatever you’re using, you always want to apply in order of “thinest” to “thickest” in terms of consistency.
1. Cleanse with BeautyCounter’s Counter+ Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm. Y’all. This stuff is the REAL DEAL. I have never used another product that takes my make-up off so easily and quickly (I’m talking even heavy eyeliner and multiple coats of waterproof mascara!) I dampen these microfiber towels and use them to remove the product, along with all of my make-up from the day.
2. Cleanse again with BeautyCounter’s Countermatch Pure Calm Cleansing Milk. I think that cleansing twice is ESSENTIAL, especially if you have on a full face of make-up. If I don’t have any on that day, sometimes I skip the cleansing balm and go straight to this step. This product truly feels so good on your skin, and I love knowing that it’s a better-for-me face wash without harmful ingredients.
3. Tone with Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner. I switch off and try new toners all the time, but I’ve been using this one from Thayers for a while! I love how the witch hazel helps minimize my pores, while keeping my skin from drying out.
4. Treat with Differin Adapalene Retinoid Gel. I forgot to include this one in the photos, but I have been using Differin for close to 10 years now! It used to only be available by prescription, but now you can buy it just about anywhere (I get mine on Amazon.) Adapalene is a type of Retinoid (hello anti-aging – it’s never too early to start) and it helps your skin cells regenerate quickly, leaving you looking younger and with clearer pores.
5.. Treat with BeautyCounter’s Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel. I alternate nights between using this and using the Differin – I never use them at the same time! This leave-on AHA/BHA peel (more anti-aging!) improves skin texture and boosts clarity. I have NEVER used a product that changed my skin overnight after one use until I tried this. I always love waking up to bright, clear skin when I use this in my skincare routine!!
6. Quench skin with BeautyCounter’s Countermatch Intense Moisture Serum. Packed with two forms of hyaluronic acid, plus vitamins C and E, this intensely moisturizing serum, (without mineral oil or synthetic fragrance!) delivers a boost of lasting hydration and antioxidant protection.
7. Moisturize with BeautyCounter’s Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream. This overnight cream also has TWO forms of hyaluronic acid that shield skin from moisture loss during sleep. It’s so rich and comes in a dispenser that keeps the product air-tight for maximum potency.
8. Moisturize with BeautyCounter’s Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream. I had never used an eye cream until recently, but now I understand what all the hype is about! I primarily notice that the fine lines beneath my eyes are significantly diminished in the morning after using this, and my dark circles look much brighter!
Last but not least, I usually apply the hand cream and Vaseline lip treatment that I keep in my bedside table to complete my skincare rountine! This might seem like a lot of products/a lengthy process, but it truly only takes my around 10 minutes, at the very most. Taking time to take care of your skin is SO worth it!
