Would you believe me if I told you that Rudd has been in the process of straightening his teeth for the past year?! Back in August of 2019, Rudd and I started considering options for him to start Invisalign before the wedding. (The good ole days when we thought it would be in April!) He never had braces growing up, so we were starting from scratch to find the best approach.
We were very interested in Invisalign because traditional braces were definitely not going to be an option for him. The only other thing we knew for sure is that we wanted to see an orthodontist (not a dentist who dabbles in orthodontics) + we wanted things to move as QUICKLY as possible!
When Rudd went for an initial consultation with Albea Orthodontics, we knew that’s who we wanted to go with! Caroline was and is SO knowledgable about what she does, and made us feel so comfortable with the whole Invisalign process. Her office is also so homey and inviting, and made us feel at ease every step of the way!
In short, they scanned his teeth at the very beginning to make his first set of clear trays – he wore them every single day, morning and night, and only took them out to eat or brush his teeth. I was so impressed with how well he wore them!!
Rudd started in August of 2019 with 14 different Invisalign trays that he changed weekly! After those 14 weeks, they re-scanned his teeth (the “refinement” scan) to see where his teeth needed to move from there. He wore his next set of 14 trays for the next 14 weeks, and finished up with a final 8 weeks of trays for a total of 36 trays in 36 weeks!
We are both SO happy with how his treatment turned out, and are still amazed that it was able to happen in less than a year. Now that he’s finished, he got the clear tabs removed from his teeth that the trays “click” into, and Albea Orthodontics made his a retainer that he will continue to wear while he sleeps!
When Rudd started this process, I knew that it was something I wanted to share with all of you. These before and after scans are so amazing to me! I’ve heard so many people around our age talk about wanting to correct their teeth (even those whose teeth have shifted after having braces in middle school, etc.!) and wanted to highlight how easy the Invisalign process actually is! If you’re in the Western North Carolina area, we would absolutely and highly recommend Albea Orthodontics. We’ll forever be fans of Invisalign!!
