HAPPY NEW YEAR!! ? January 1-5ish is arguably my favorite time of the year because I am obsessed with goal setting, calendar planning, and organization. There is nothing better than making a huge cup of coffee and sitting down with my Day Designer, blog content spreadsheet, and some fancy marking pens to plan out the new year! My goals and resolutions for this year include making a point to live in the moment and growing this little blog with more partnerships, tutorials, and content that is meaningful to YOU!
Today I want to walk you through how I use my Day Designer planner at the beginning of every year to reflect on what the past year has brought me and set goals for the days ahead. I think we tend to focus soooo much on goal setting and resolutions for the new year (which is great!) but it’s also so important to reflect, learn from your mistakes, and be proud of your accomplishments from the previous year.

The bottom-line for using your Day Designer for success is to live a well designed life. I love this phrase! At the end of the day, if you design your lifestyle in the best possible way for YOU, it will be much easier for you to be successful. My current planner is an academic year calendar, but I plan to switch over to the traditional flagship planner when mine “runs out!” There are tonsss of different patterns to to choose from too – I always have such a hard time deciding!
One of my favorite parts about this agenda/calendar is that it starts out with pages that are dedicated to self-assessment and goal setting. The following pages help you align your values with your goals and create sample monthly/weekly schedules to achieve those goals! I’ve added screenshots below so you can see for yourself. I can’t express enough how truly helpful these worksheets are for me. The best part is that because they are right there in your calendar, you can look back at them throughout the year to make sure you’re on track to achieve what you set out to do!
The daily pages (screenshot above) are my absolute favorite. As a type-A control freak, the hour-by-hour scheduling column is my BEST FRIEND. I love being able to visually lay out my days like this. It helps me use my time in the very best way! First, I use the to-do column the night before to add tasks that I know HAVE to be completed. I add to the column on the day-of as things pop up, and then switch to-do’s that I don’t complete over to the next day!
What are your goals for the new year?? I’m trying to really focus on time management, productivity, and planning to ensure that I don’t overwork myself on weekends and days off. I’m a self-diagnosed workaholic so sometimes it’s really hard for me to put down my phone/laptop and just RELAX. I think that’s something we could probably all do more of. Leave me a comment and let me know what you’re working on for the new year! Are you going to get a Day Designer too??
