Natural Beauty: Wayne Powers Apothecary

If you followed along on my Instagram stories a few weeks ago (it’s in my highlights now!), I stopped by Wayne Powers Apothecary in Columbia to pick up some products to test out for myself. Not only is Wayne the sweetest person EVER, he was so excited to help me with all of my hair/skincare needs. All of his products are completely natural and safe (which is something that I’ve been trying to switch all of my beauty products over to!)

Enter: these amazing Wayne Powers products. Wayne’s salon is in the cutest little house on Devine Street in Columbia. I’ll be linking all of the products in this post back to his website so that you can order some for yourself! Y’all know that I do not recommend products lightly – I am a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie and have tried just about everything there is to try. With that said, some of Wayne’s products have seriously changed the way I take care of and style my hair. Let’s begin.

Here’s a little new flash: Those chemical sunscreens that you buy in the aerosol spray cans are terrible for you + a lot of people are allergic to them. I used Wayne’s SPF 30 sunscreen with zinc (which is a physical sunscreen, instead of a chemical sunscreen) while I was on vacay in Destin and it was the best thing ever! I usually break out in a little sun rash after wearing sunscreen for a few days, but this helped me so much.

ALSO, if you get anything out of this post, understand that you need to check out Wayne’s entire candle collection – all of his scents are amazing! It was so hard to choose just one, but I picked up Tea Olive and Pumpkin Spice.

Pictured above are two of my favorite products of Wayne’s that I got to try. (Also please excuse these half-used bottles – that’s how much I’ve loved this stuff!)

The first is the climate control cream (AKA weather girl in a bottle) – you put it in your hair while it’s damp after you get out of the shower – instant climate control all day! Bye frizzy hair! This product isn’t on the Wayne Powers website, but check it out in the store.

Second up – y’all know how obsessed I am with skincare + anti-aging products. Wayne gave me his retinol vitamin C moisturizer to use in the morning and at night. It has seriously made my skin so much brighter and I can’t wait to keep using it. It’s never too early to start fighting the aging process!

Wayne calls this “the hairspray for people who don’t like hairspray.” It has such a light finish and leaves your hair brushable for re-styling which is a combination for the hairspray of my dreams. This is a must-have.

Last but not least, I would be failing you if I didn’t discuss Wayne’s cleansing gelatos and his revolutionary “cotton thickin'” spray. First of all, if you’re like me and have ridiculously unruly hair, the cleansing gelatos are your friends. They come in tons of different scents and serve as gentle shampoos that won’t damage your locks like other shampoos that have harsh chemicals. These have helped balance out my texture so much.

Y’all. If you want your hair to have volume + texture that will withstand the summer heat (think beachy/Victoria’s Secret waves), you NEED this. Cotton thickin’ is a product I know I’ll be buying again and again for years to come. Make sure to pop over to Wayne’s website and visit his salon on Devine Street for all of these products + amazing styling services. Lmk if you have questions, as always! xx
