Nashville Trip

So I hadn’t originally planned on writing a re-cap of our Nashville trip we took a couple of weeks ago because I felt like I hadn’t taken enough photos to share + I didn’t know how much meaningful info I really had because we were only there for a couple of days. On top of that, it was essentially a “business trip” because I was primarily there to present my Communication research at a conference.
With all of that said, I had some people that were interested to know the details on where we went and what we did! Life isn’t always picture-perfect anyways so I thought I’d share the deets in case it’s helpful to you!!

First of all, me, Rudd, and my parents stayed at an AirBnB to make things easy! Here is the link to the exact place if you’re interested.  Mirror selfie above to document.

So the first day we were there, we ate Hattie B’s Hot Chicken for lunch. It was SO good and I would highly recommend. I’m kind of a friend chicken snob so that’s really saying a lot. I know several of you recommended that I try it out and I am so glad that you told me about it!! The pimento mac-and-cheese is also a must. One warning – the chicken is truly spicy – I ordered “medium” and literally had to chug an entire water bottle after eating. Might go with the mild next time, but to each his own. Pro tip: Order online and pick it up to-go instead of waiting for an hour and a half in the long line. The place is v small.

I had absolutely no idea that this was a thing, but there is a replica of the Parthenon right outside of downtown (???) Not sure what the story is behind it, but Dad insisted that we stop for a photo-op so here we are.

Next up, we went to Florida Georgia Line’s new restaurant/bar called “FGL House” that night for dinner/drinks. It was seriously SO fun! The place has 4 different floors that include a piano bar, sports bar, live bands, and really good food! Because it was so cold and rainy outside (literally sleeting), we stayed there the whole night. We hung out on each of the different floors – it feels like you’re in a new place each time you move floors! We shared a giant soft pretzel (pictured above) for an appetizer at the main bar, then ate dinner on one of the upper floors. I honestly didn’t expect the food to be very good, but was pleasantly surprised.

The next day was the day that I presented at the conference, so we didn’t have a ton of time, but we did manage to make it to the Loveless Cafe for lunch! If it had been warmer, it would have been even more fun to walk around the little shops/general store that surround the restaurant. I did end up getting a bag of their biscuit mix and am excited to try it out soon. I got the chicken and waffles to eat and definitely wasn’t disappointed, but I honestly expected to be blown out of the water and I just wasn’t. If you ask me, the biscuits were pretty much the same as the one’s you get at Cracker Barrel, but I know people obsess over them. Maybe I’m in the minority here?? Still super glad we went so I can say that I’ve been there!

Last but not least, there was a reception that night at the downtown Sheraton hotel where the conference was being held. The view was so beautiful – we got to enjoy a drink while the sun set, then we went out to a place called Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery for dinner. I don’t have any pics from there, but would definitely recommend for a casual meal! If there’s anything else you want to know about our trip that I didn’t cover, be sure to let me know.

Thanks again for all of your Nashville tips!! They were so helpful and I can’t wait to go back to have more time to explore the city!
