For those of you who are soooo tired of gift guides, I hear you, but we must press on ? This Gifts for Moms post is my last MAJOR guide of the season, other than some DIY gift posts, and maybe a last-minute gift post for all of you procrastinators. My type-A self has had a gift-giving Excel spreadsheet going since longgg before Thanksgiving and I’m honestly so proud of it. I mentioned my gift-system on Instagram stories a while back, so I thought I’d add a screenshot of it in this post in case you’re interested in re-creating it!
I added some fake numbers just for the sake of showing you how the system works – I write down everyone who I’m buying significant gifts for in the very first column, to start. Next, I set a total budget for my Christmas shopping! (No matter if your budget is $50, or $1,000, it’s still helpful to do this!) The next step is to create individual budgets for each person you are shopping for. I like to add an “auto sum” formula in the “total budget” cell – it’s kind of like a game to see how you can move the numbers around to make them add up to the total budget! (Nerding out over here, lol.)
The rest is pretty self explanatory: Jot down ideas for presents in the next column, then keep track of how much you are actually spending in the column after that! I also like to keep track of whether or not my shopping for each person is “complete” and if their gifts have been wrapped, but that’s totally optional.
Feel free to recreate this in Excel and put your own spin on it! I’m obsessed with spreadsheets and organization, but what works for me might not work for you. Now let’s get to some gifts for MOMS! All of these picks are sure to please any mom or mom-like person in your life.
