Easter Egg Wreath Cake

I used to bake and decorate cakes just for fun, so much more often, and I want to get back to that! It truly makes me so happy! This Easter egg wreath cake, in particular, is sparking so much joy. Can you even with these colors?!

I received a spring baking kit from Wilton last weekend, and I knew it was the perfect opportunity to create something fun. I got the idea from this original post on the Wilton website. It was so easy to do! Here’s everything that I used:

This silicone half-egg mold is my new favorite thing. I simply melted the candy melts and poured them into the mold, waited about 10 minutes for the eggs to set, and they popped right out so easily!

Once I had my candy melt eggs ready to go, I arranged them in a “wreath” shape on the top of the cake, in 2 different rings. (By the way, I just made my typical vanilla layer cake recipe and white buttercream for the base of the cake. Then I used the Wilton round tip #10 to pipe a border around the base.)

Next, I grabbed 3 of the icing bags that were in my spring baking kit – white, pink, & green! I had never used these pouches before, but they came with a round and a star tip. I used the star tip on each bag to pipe all around the eggs, making sure to close any gaps between them. Finally I continued piping around the top edge of the cake until I was happy with it!

And, that’s it! I think this would be something so fun to do with children to celebrate Easter, and the gift of our Savior. It’s just so festive and happy! Let me know if you decide to make this for Easter weekend – I’d love to see your finished product!
