5 Things I Can’t Live Without in the Morning

Are you a morning person? I’ve always said that I am, but mornings can still be a little rough sometimes! I’m definitely not a night owl though – I’m always the first one to say it’s time to call it a night ? I really love mornings because I like to have a little bit of time by myself before my daily craziness starts. I have a handful of essential things that I can’t live without in the early hours of the day! Some of them are straightforward and typical, and others are very unique to me. I’d love to know how you like to start your day, too! I’m always learning little tips and tricks here and there to make mornings more enjoyable and less stressful.

1. Fluffy Steve Madden Slides

If you own a pair of faux-fur slides then you might know what I’m about to say…I slip these babies on every single time I come home and right when I wake up in the morning. It’s like they’re slippers but they’re also shoes! I don’t like walking around on cold hardwood floors/bathroom tile right when I wake up (realizing how high maintenance this sounds as I write it HA) so I keep these right by my bedside and put them on before my feet hit the floor! They’re also handy if you have to step outside to take your dog out in the morning, etc. because the soles are rubber.

2. Aveeno Brightening Cleanser

If you read my skincare routine blog post a couple of weeks ago, you probably already know about my morning beauty habits! If I had to pick one product I can’t live without in the morning, it would have to be my Aveeno Brightening Cleanser. It truthfully wakes up my skin and makes it appear brighter (which is essential in the early hours of the day.) You can read about my entire skincare routine here, or continue to number 3 to find out what my favorite face-washing accessory is ?

3. Towel Headband

If you think you don’t need this towel headband, you’re wrong. I didn’t think I needed it either until I started using it, but y’all – it’s one of my favorite things I own! Even if you don’t think it’s functional, just imagine how cute you’ll look in it while you get ready for your day, LOL. It’s also only $4.99 at Ulta! I always wear mine while I wash my face in the morning so that my hairline doesn’t get wet. After that, I keep it on while I do my make-up so my hair stays out of my face!

4. Morning Coffee

My morning coffee is something I didn’t make a habit of until my freshman year of college. 4 years later, I’m BFFs with my Keurig. Sometimes the only thing that makes me get out of bed in the morning is knowing that if I do, I’ll get to immediately make my coffee ? I drink my coffee with just a splash of 2% milk, and that’s it! I’ve trained myself to not need super-sweet creamer over the years (it was not an easy break-up) and now I don’t even notice the difference. My favorite K-Cups are the Hazelnut flavor from Green Mountain – the smell is to die for!

5. New Morning Mercies Devotion Book

I’ve been using this devotional book for over a year now and absolutely love it! You may have heard me talk about it on Instagram before, but I love the length of the devotions in the book. Each one takes about 10 minutes to fully read through, along with the passages of scripture. If I’m running late in the mornings, I sometimes save my daily devotion to read before I go to sleep. Whenever this happens, I always regret not saving enough time to get through it in the morning! This book helps put so much perspective into my day and always puts me in a more joyful mood.
